Burkina Faso Air Force

Formerly Upper Volta, Burkina Faso formed an air transport and communications force within the Army. Burkina Faso became a Soviet client state during the 1980's and at one time the BKAF receive dMg-17 and Mig-21 aircraft which have long since ceased to be operational. The current air arm has few personnel and its only armed equipment are 5 SIAI SF-260W/WL armed trainers. There are also 5 Mi-8/17 transport helicopters, a Eurocopter SA316 and an AS350, as well as 2 Cessna 152 for training and liaison. Transport is provided by a VIP Boeing 727, 2 Nord 262, 2 HS748, a Commander 500B and a Beech Super King Air.
