Estonian Army Avaition

In common with the other small Baltic states, Estonia was occupied by the Soviet Union in 1940, having enjoyed independence since 1920. After being ocupied by German forces from 1941 to 1945, the country became a constituent repulic of the Soviet Union and did not achieve its independence again until 1991. At that time the Army formed a small air wing and is equipped with 3 An-2 transports and a PZL-140 Wilga for training, while 3 Mi-2 helicopters were joined in 2000 by 4 Robinson R44, a gift from the USA.
