This is a Sterling silver wing and the back is clearly marked with the Stokes brand and the year of manufacture. The Queen's Crown version was not issued until 1955.

This wing was issued to Peter May when he graduated from Ballarat, Victoria, No 14 Signaller's Course as a Sergeant Signaller in 1960, having joined the RAAF in 1959. He then later qualified for the Air Electronics and Navigator wing and retired in Canberra as a Wing Commander in 1988
